How to unlock the blessings of the Lord in your life

Dr. Patrick Nyaga

Deuteronomy 28:1-14 describes the blessings that will be given to the Israelites if they obey the Lord’s commands and walk in His ways, promising abundant prosperity, military victory over enemies, successful harvests and livestock, international respect, financial stability (lending to many nations but borrowing from none), and recognition as God’s holy people.

Today as believers in Christ Jesus, we are called the children of God (1 Peter 2:9) we have access to the same blessings that the children of Israel had and even better because of the blood of Jesus Christ if we learn to do the following.

1. WHATEVER GOD HAS GIVEN US TO DO, DO WE MUST DO IT WITH ALL OUR MIGHT

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV) “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”.

2. WE MUST STAY IN THE WORD AND BE DOERS OF THE WORD

Joshua 1:8 (KJV) “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success”.

Psalm 119:148 (KJV) “Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word”.

3. WE MUST REFUSE TO WORRY ABOUT OUR FUTURE

Philippians 6-7 (KJV) “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.

Matthew 6:34 (KJV) “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof”.

4. WE MUST TRUST GOD REGARDLESS OF THE NATURAL CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING US

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV), “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.

Revelation 3:7 (KJV), “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; 8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name”.

5. WE MUST STAY COMMITTED TO THE WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD

Acts 20:27-30 (KJV),

“For I have not [a]shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church [b]of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking [c]perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves”.

6. WE MUST NOT LOVE MATERIAL THINGS / MONEY OR OUR CAREER MORE THAN GOD

Ecclesiastes 5:10 (KJV)

“He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity”.

The verse highlights the nature of greed, where a person who loves money will never have enough, despite how much they gain.

This means that true satisfaction is unattainable through money alone. The desire for more will always persist.

7. WE MUST REMAIN FOCUSED ON WHAT GOD HAS CALLED US TO DO

Proverbs 20:5 (AMP) “A plan (motive, wise counsel) in the heart of a man is like water in a deep well, But a man of understanding draws it out”.

The Bible encourages fixing your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2), staying in the situation you were in when called (1 Corinthians 7:20), and setting your mind on things above (Colossians 3:2) rather than earthly distractions. These scriptures emphasize aligning your focus with God’s will and purpose to stay on the path He has marked out for you.

Trust God’s Plan as in Jeremiah 29:11

Understand that God has a divine purpose for your life and trust that He will guide your path as you submit to Him

8. WE MUST LEARN TO TAP INTO THE KINGDOM PRINCIPLE OF FINANCIAL INCREASE THROUGH OUR GIVING

Luke 6:38

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

According to 1 Peter 2:9, when God brought us into His Kingdom, we became God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.

One of the ways we do that, is through giving back to Him not only our time and talents, but our treasure as well.
